Arne Slot.
That should be enough. That should be all I need to say because if i'm being honest, this man has left us breathless, speechless. An awe-defying performance from a man very few actually knew. I was one of those, a Liverpool fan, pretending that I knew who he was and he was going to be great but, if I am being honest, I was a bit worried. Of course I was, otherwise I wouldn't be waking up at three in the morning to watch preseason. I saw some good signs, we had played two good teams and beaten them both, Sevilla and Arsenal, and had faired well against both. And then we came into the real season, and how well has he handled it. 16 games, 14 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss. And fair play, that loss was against a very good Nottingham Forest team and a draw against a Arsenal at the Emirates. Top of the PL and top of the UCL. And it isn't easy games he has had to play, five games against the current top eight and two more in the next few weeks, it will not be easy for the Liverpool manager, but so far, he has handled it well. And it isn't just the scores, but it is how he is getting the results. There were so many times under Klopp where you could see that we just weren't going to score, and in no way am I trying to disrespect Klopp here. The respect I have for the man is immeasurable, but I think a lot of Liverpool fans had the same feeling. I have watched games this season where it just looks like we are going to struggle to score. But let's look at it tactics wise, and this is where I go nerd mode because I love talking about this. If you look at the PL game against Brighton, Liverpool looked disgustingly sloppy, I thought it was lucky it was only 1-0 at the break. In the second half, Slot brought on Luis Diaz, but not in his usual role. This time, Diaz played like a 10, getting into spaces wherever he wanted to pick up the ball and move it. That worked brilliantly, moving around it than role meant that the Brighton defence didn't know who to follow. He played between the lines, leaving him open to get the ball. Arne Slot needs to keep this up and he will win the league in his first season.
