Blockbuster Gameweek 11! Arsenal beaten again! Ten Hag gets lucky!

Lucky Ten Hag...

Fulham 0-1 Man Utd
Ten Hag should be counting his lucky stars. In any other universe, Fulham would've won that match. A last minute goal from a captain everyone has been criticising, and suddenly, to Man United fans at least, he is the second coming? Absolutely crazy. On another note, Antony may be the most useless player I have ever seen for Man United. He has had absolutely zero impact after his first three games. Fulham should've come away with more from that but Onana made some good saves and they weren't clinical enough. Palinha would've gotten MOTM if he hadn't messed up the clearance that led to United goal.

Buzzing Bees

Brentford 3-2 West Ham
Fair play Thomas Frank, to keep Brentford at the top level for so long and do so well with it is quite an achievement. This game was brilliant though, lots of goals throughout. West Ham should've played better though, West Ham beat Arsenal mid-week but then struggled to defend against Brentford, it doesn't add up, I guess that's why we love football(and hate it at times).

Soaring Eagles

Burnley 0-2 Crystal Palace
Kompany needs help, he may need a bit of company(get it?). At the start of the season, I told my dad that Burnley are going to be brilliant, he just laughed, I told him you'll see, I feel a bit silly now. Kompany did so well in the championship, just shows the difference between the top flight and second league. Roy Hodgson did well to recover Palace after a string of losses, the first time since April 2021. The Eagles(Not the band) fans will be hoping the 500-year-old can keep it going.

Seagulls Get Stuck in Toffee

Everton 1-1 Brighton
Brighton could've done better in this game, so could've Everton. The score was quite reflective of the game and the team. Everton, after a really poor start, have starting doing quite well, even managing De Zerbi's Brighton, so fair play to razor voice Sean Dyche. The Merseyside club have now lost 2 in 5, which, compared to the rest of the team, is not too bad.

How Was Haaland NOT on the Scoresheet?

Man City 6-1 Bournemouth
Wow, that was a dismantling, Haaland wasn't on the scoresheet though, which doesn't sound right. Kevin De Bruyne really makes Haaland play better. Jeremy Doku, what a player though, a goal and 4 assists in one game is absolutely crazy and he is really lighting up the Premier League. I am surprised however, that Bournemouth even managed to get on the scoresheet, it was already 4-0 to Man City. Though people are talking about Tottenham winning the league, we must be reminded that Man City can shift two gears and leave everyone in the dust, the fact that they had goals coming from everywhere except Haaland really shows how dangerous they are.

Points for the (Returning) New Boys

Sheffield United 2-1 Wolves
Sheffield United finally pick up some points from a win in the PL. But this just spells trouble for Gary O'Neil's new side. It was always a risk to get a new manager about a week before the new season, and even if they seemed like they played well in their first game, the results just aren't going their way. After Sheffield United's dismal exit from the Premier League, they needed to come back with a bang, Paul Heckingbottom have brought them back with a bit of a pop rather than a bang. Finally though, Sheffield United got their first win.

Toon Army Bouncing

Newcastle 1-0 Arsenal
Arsenal showed a lot of good fight, but the only problem was the strength of the Newcastle fans. The positive a lot of Arsenal fans can take is the strength of the back line. Kai Havertz is useless, I can honestly say that after the UCL Final in 2021, I cannot think of anything he has done well. Early in the game, he almost got a red card, but luckily for him, it was only a yellow, and even more lucky, three Newcastle players got yellow cards. Guimaraes should've gotten sent off for two high harms, only receiving a yellow card though. The problem though, Arsenal's defence only lasted a certain amount of time, as is the case with everything, good things always come to an end. And it was a real collapse from Arsenal. The goal they conceded was really scruffy, a check if the ball was out, a check for offside and a check for a foul. Arsenal would've wished one of those decisions would've gone their way, because the Arsenal backline for that was very poor. Gabriel and Saliba could've done better with that goal, especially Gabriel, it was his mistake that led to the attack. The ball over the top should've been dealt with, fairplay to Joelinton though for keeping the ball, the clearance from Gabriel should've been made, and to be honest, Arsenal should've been more set to deal with it, as there was a fair bit of playing around before the pass.  Ben White has to get out to Willock sooner, he just believes the ref will call it for out of play, and then, Raya missing his punch and Gabriel being weak when challenging for the header all leads to the downfall that ends up in Arsenal losing 1-0.

Shocker

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Aston Villa
A shocking day this one, no one expected Forest to be the team to stop Aston Villa, especially an out of form Nottingham Forest, they were, however, the better team on the day and deserved the win. Aston Villa on the other hand, were horrendous. Ola Aina had a very impressive performance, even scoring from right back, started off what was to be a torrid day for the Villans. With a strike partnership of Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins, you would expect the Villans to do better. After all of it, Forest deserved the win and played well to win the game.

I'm Going To Kill all of Them

Luton 1-1 Liverpool
Especially Darwin Nunez, all of his hard chances, he got on target, all the simple chances, he missed. It was very annoying. The shot from three yards out that he missed, I am convinced he was Kai Havertz in disguise, Mikel Arteta swapped them so they eye of who was the most terrible of the weekend would be on Nunez. Nunez played quite well in the first half, he was very confident but in the second half, really lost that spark. It would, however, be unfair to Luton to say Liverpool lost 2 points, it would be more fair to say Luton lost 2 points, they were very strong and worked so hard just do draw the game, the Hatters keep looking for their first home win.

What. A. Game.

Tottenham 1-4 Chelsea
Let's start with that first half. What a first half, two disallowed goals, two goals, Romero being an absolute pillock, Van de Ven's injury, Maddison's injury, Colwill losing his head and and Udogie not getting what should have been a red card. Other than that though, the game was quite boring. Udogie's poor tackle after a brilliant(and somewhat lucky goal)really sparked life into what looked like a Chelsea team that had no idea what football was. Tottenham completely lost their heads. Raheem Sterling had a break and drove Chelsea up the pitch, he ended up putting the ball in the back of the net, only to have his goal disallowed for a handball. I think Chelsea should've done better in the first half though, yes they scored and got Romero sent off after he tried to break fellow Argentine Enzo Fernandez's leg. Chelsea had ten men and frankly, Tottenham were repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot with the height of their defensive line. Both teams kept trying to play around their defence, not helping either team and it was particularly good playing around the back. A lot of the passing was sloppy and led to a lot of mistakes. Both midfields on the day were very dodgy, neither one playing particularly well. Then the second half. Chelsea are on the break and after a terrible pass from Sterling, he managed to recover it after Udogie's block, who decides to slide in and knows that he is about to get sent off, again a stupid challenge, he is never getting near the ball. Nicolas Jackson is not good, he missed a really simple header which is blocked on the line, he did score a hat-trick(of tap-ins)though. His final shot was blazed over the bar,  Hojberg is being stupid, he tried to put Jackson on the floor in the box, the whole game felt like Tottenham were trying to make it harder for himself. Another Tottenham disallowed goal after the 9-man team went 2-1 down, just making the game even more interesting. This was the most interesting game this week and, to be honest, this whole season.

Comments

  1. Really good analysis of all the games. As a forest fan I was slightly hurt by the fact I result was hailed a shock. In Cooper we trust.
